We can’t live without love. The deepest part of our being yearns for intimacy and companionship. God designed us that way. Gender and marriage are the defining cultural issues of our day, and varying opinions abound. Churches, Christian schools, and businesses must navigate shifting legal terrain, with courts testing the limits of what our culture should look like in light of a new inclusive definition of marriage.
How can the church, the Bride of Christ, respond distinctively with theologically-rich conviction, grace, and freedom from fear?
This sermon series “Awakening Our Desires: God’s Design for Body & Soul” presents a theological foundation for how to think about our bodies, relationships, sexuality, singleness, marriage, families, virtue, purity, and modesty. Scripture speaks to these issues, but often the church has allowed the internet, media and now the courts to direct the conversations. We ought to speak not with barrier-building black and white conclusions to the difficult topics of gender identity, same-sex marriage, divorce, and sexual immorality, but with a theology of the body and soul.
