Our Purposes

Revealing God’s Glory

We gather together as a church to give God glory. The Word of God, together with the historical doctrines and practices of the Church, guide the ways we share the life of Christ for God’s kingdom in our world through these four core purposes:

Psalm 100; John 4:23; Revelation 7:9-12; 15:4
In worship, we give God glory by enjoying His life and love in everything.

Our greatest delight is turning from ourselves to worship the Triune God with honor, glory, and praise. Our worship centers on the WORD and TABLE, like the historical Church before us. Through solid teaching of God’s Word, we proclaim Christ. At our weekly communion table, we receive Christ—remembering His death, celebrating His resurrection, anticipating His coming. The Spirit equips us for obedience, extending our worship beyond Sunday morning into every day, every activity, every relationship.

Our vision is to be a worshipping community with multi-generational reach, where all ages are welcomed, encouraged, and participate together in the shared worship life of the Trinity. We aim to design our worship service to incorporate a variety of components (music, prayer, special celebrations) with historic influence and contemporary significance, and participants from a variety of ages.

II Cor. 3:17,18; Col. 1:9,10; Romans 12:1,2
In transformation, we are changed into the likeness of His glory.

When God saves us He breaks the power of sin in our lives, sets us apart for holiness, and with the Spirit, transforms us into the image of Jesus Christ. This doesn’t happen in isolation but in community, nurtured by the truth of God’s Word. Together we grow to know Him more deeply and see the fruit of lasting change.

Our vision is to be church that embraces the risks required for Spirit transformation to take place – moving from niceness to honesty, from comfort to brokenness, from self-confidence to a vibrant present Hope in Christ, and from an insular complacency to an active love.

John 13:34,35; I Cor. 10:16,17; I John 1:3; Eph. 4:1-6
In fellowship, we share in the glory of Christ with love and service to others.

We enjoy God’s life and love fully when we share it together—openly and deeply connected with one another in our personal relationships and church ministries. Our fellowship with the Triune God begins with the work of Christ, is strengthened at the communion Table, and extends with the Spirit’s power in other-centered relationships.

Our vision is to be an community which diligently and graciously pursues the integration of head and heart. Spiritual maturity demands growth in relationships and service along with knowledge of Jesus Christ through His Word.

Mt. 28:18-20; Eph. 2:8,9
In our witness, we reflect His glory

We desire that people would be amazed by the change Christ is making in our lives (Acts 4:13) and join us as we live in worship together. We take seriously Christ’s command to share the Good News of God’s grace, mercy, forgiveness, and salvation with our family and friends, our community, and the world. As a candle brings light into the darkness, our words and lives invite others to share the real life we have in Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to advance God’s kingdom by living out of our connectedness with Christ and one another into the world at large through intentional engagement in local service, neighborly love, kingdom-oriented community involvement, and global missions.
