The Blessing of Discipling Children

This past Sunday we heard about our calling to pass on our faith to others (2 Tim 2:1-7). A specific application was to consider helping to disciple children by serving in the Children’s Ministry. Andrea Lindahl shared her story of how she has been blessed in teaching children. This Sunday we turn to chapter 3 where we see the same theme.

[14] But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it [15] and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. – 2 Tim 3:14-15 (ESV)

Timothy was acquainted with Scripture from a young age. Having faithful believers teach and disciple you as a child is an immeasurable blessing. Because Andrea’s story is such a great application of this week’s text as well, I wanted to share a few highlights.

“I believe there is no more worthwhile investment that can be made than teaching children to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love their neighbors as themselves. They need to know how to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith. I enjoy being in the classroom with my students and am privileged to see firsthand how God is working in their lives… These moments are incredibly moving, encouraging, and at times convicting, and I am so blessed.”

Who is God calling you to disciple? If you would like to be a part of passing on the faith to the children of Trinity Fellowship Church, there are still opportunities to serve this fall. Contact Kari Jane Smith to find out how you can be a part of what God is doing in the Children’s Ministry (karijane@trinityfellowship.org).
